I WAS BORN AND RAISED IN GUATEMALA CITY IN THE 1970s AND STILL REMEMBER A NATION IN THE THROES OF A BLOODY CIVIL WAR. UPON LEAVING MY NATIVE COUNTRY AS A BOY AND RELOCATING TO THE UNITED STATES TO LIVE WITH MY GRANDPARENTS, MY GRANDFATHER BOUGHT ME A NEW BMX BIKE WHICH IGNITED MY LOVE FOR CYCLING.
AS I GREW OLDER, I CONTINUED MY LOVE OF SPORT AND COMPETITION WHILE RISING THROUGH THE COMPETITIVE CYCLING RANKS. HONORING MY DUAL NATIONALITY, I REALIZED I HAD A SHOT AT BECOMING AN OLYMPIC ATHLETE AND REPRESENTED GUATEMALA AT THE ’96 OLYMPICS GAMES. SOON AFTER, I EARNED MY WAY ONTO AND RACED – CLEAN – FOR THE US POSTAL SERVICE PROFESSIONAL CYCLING TEAM DURING THE LANCE ARMSTRONG ERA. AFTER YEARS OF GRUELING PRO RACING, I WAS DONE, I HUNG UP THE BIKE AND RETIRED TO PURSUE MY MBA.
IT IS WITH THAT SAME VISION, STRATEGY, EXECUTION, AND GRIT THAT I GO AFTER EVERYTHING I DO IN LIFE BEIT AS AN ENTREPRENEUR, AN ATHLETE, OR A FATHER. WITH MY FATHER STILL LIVING IN GUATEMALA, I TRAVEL THERE FREQUENTLY TO WORK WITH SUSTAINABLE FARMS, IMPORTING VOLKAN COFFEE DIRECTLY FROM ITS SOURCE. LEVERAGING MY BACKGROUND AS A TECHNOLOGY ENTREPRENEUR, TACTIC DIGITAL IS MY LATEST PROJECT WHEREBY WE HELP BUSINESSES GROW THROUGH DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION. PROFORMANCE IS MY EXCLUSIVE ONE-ON-ONE TRAINING PROGRAM FOR THOSE WHO DESIRE TO BE THE BEST VERSION OF THEMSELVES. BUT MY ‘REAL JOB’ IS THAT OF A FULL-TIME FATHER OF THREE AMAZINGLY TALENTED DAUGHTERS.
IN CLOSING, AN OLD TEAMMATE OF MINE ONCE SAID THAT ‘VILLATORO’ MEANT TOWNBULL AND JOKINGLY WARNED OUR COMPETITORS TO BE CAREFUL OF THE HORNS WHEN ANTON IS ON THE ATTACK… THE NICKNAME STUCK.
